Receipts — money in
A customer pays you. This records it, applies it to the bills they were paying for, and prints them a voucher.
What this screen is for
A receipt voucher is money coming in from a customer against what they already owe. It is not a sale — the sale happened earlier. This is the settlement.
How to get here
Sidebar → Cash & Bank → Accounts, then New Receipt.
The screen, part by part
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|

| Sales | The list of their unpaid bills |
| Receive Date | When the money arrived |
| Apply to selected sales | Tick the bills this payment clears, and how much goes against each |

| Notes | Optional |
Reset clears the form and starts again.
Applying the money
This is the part worth understanding. When a customer hands over money you can either:
- Apply it to specific bills — tick them and the app clears those invoices exactly. Their statement then shows clean, closed bills.
- Leave it unapplied — it reduces their overall balance without being tied to an invoice.
Applying is better whenever the customer is paying for something specific. It makes Account Statement readable and stops old bills sitting open forever.
Printing
Saving prints a Cash Receipt voucher showing what was paid, which bills it cleared and what is still pending afterwards. Hand it over or file it.
Step by step
A customer clears one bill
- Choose the Customer.
- Their unpaid sales appear.
- Tick the bill they are paying.
- Enter the amount, choose Cash, save.
- The voucher prints and their receivable drops.
A part payment across several bills
- Choose the customer.
- Enter the total they handed over.
- Tick the oldest bills first and split the amount across them.
- Save. Whatever is left over stays outstanding on the newest bill.
Payment into the bank
- Same as above, but choose Bank and pick the account.
- The money shows in that account's balance on Banks and on the Dashboard's Bank Balance.
Good to know
- A receipt against the walk-in customer is meaningless — there is no balance to clear. Always name a real account.
- Receipts show in History with everything else, and can be reviewed there.
- The Balance / Pending figure on the voucher is what they still owe after this payment — it is the number customers actually ask about.
